Adventure Begins at Your Library

The White Pine County Library is preparing for the summer reading program. This year’s theme is “Adventure Begins at Your Library ‘’. The program will run from June 17, 2024, to August 9, 2024. It combines weekly library programs with reading incentives to encourage children ages 0-18 to enjoy books and the library all summer long. The program kicks off on Saturday, June 15, 2024, with two events. At noon special guest Ginger Parkinson will perform “Adventures in Storytelling’’ and follow with a storytelling activity. At 1:30 PM or immediately after, the library will host a Tie Dye Extravaganza at Veterans Park. The library will supply tie-dying supplies and families are encouraged to bring a white cotton item to dye. Registration forms and more information about the summer reading program will be available at that time.

Every year the library summer reading program invites children county wide to enjoy the library and the adventure that awaits in a great book. Every year the number of children and families participating grows. This summer the library will offer five story hour programs and 11 & Up Club every week. During story hour children enjoy a book, arts and crafts, and other activities. During 11 & Up Club, older kids enjoy arts, and crafts, Legos, games, cooking projects, and more. For each weekly program children attend they will earn one raffle ticket. Children can earn an additional ticket each week that they check out five or more library books. They can enter their tickets into a raffle for a prize of their choosing. Children must turn in a reading log before August 9th to be eligible for the summer reading drawings. To wrap up the summer reading program the library will host a book walk and ice-cream social at Veterans Park.

This year’s prizes are handpicked to provide adventures for children of all ages. The library has had a tremendous outpouring of support in the form of donations from businesses in the community and surrounding area. There is a prize that every child will be excited about. The library would also like to thank KGHM Robinson Mine for sponsoring the summer reading program.
