Edin Adrian Alvarez and Kamry Renae Bennett have been named Junior Students of the Month for January, according to Ely Elks Lodge #1469.
Alvarez, age 14, is the son of Karla Vasquez of Ely. Bennett, age 13, is the daughter of Selina and Robert Bennett of Ely. Both are 8th graders at White Pine Middle School.
The Junior Student of the Month program is sponsored by the Elks Lodge in an effort to bring recognition to outstanding students in the area.
Multiple achievement, citizenship, scholarship and leadership are the basis for selection of Junior Students of the Month.
Alvarez has been active in band and played football soccer in Honduras. His hobbies are playing soccer, sudoku, practicing boxing and practicing with his instrument.
Bennett has been active in cheer as the cheer team co-captain, track, drama, basketball, volleyball and choir. Her hobbies are riding horses with friends and being with friends over the weekend.
