Honors Outstanding Youth, and Community Partners Mr. Adam Young and Vernon Watson

ELY, Nev. – The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows Serving White Pine County recognizes their “superstar” Club members and their “celebrity” community supporters at this year’s red carpet-themed Annual Awards Banquet, Thursday, Oct. 19th, at the Bristlecone Convention Center. Hosted beer and wine begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner and awards program at 7 p.m.

The Annual Awards Banquet honors Mr. Adam Young, White Pine County School District Superintendent, with the 2023 Distinguished Service Award, along with Vernon Watson with the 2023 Volunteer of the Year Award. The “stars of the show” are the White Pine County Youths of the Year, Amber W. and Faith E., who will be honored for their achievements at the Club. The night also honors kids who make a difference in the lives of their “castmates”/Club members by living the Club’s mission each day, leading by example, and helping others. 15 members from the Club’s youth and teen centers at McGill Elementary, D.E.N. Elementary, Learning Bridge, WPMS, and WPHS are set to receive a Member of the Year award, saluting their outstanding service and participation among the Club’s 600-plus members.

“The Annual Awards Banquet is the best night of the year for our organization,” said Mike Wurm, President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows. “Our Youth of the Year recipients are the best examples of the Club’s impact on our members, and we can’t wait for the community to hear about their Club journeys.”

The Annual Awards Banquet includes hosted beer and wine from 6:30 to 7 p.m. followed by dinner and an awards program featuring performances from Club members sure to rock the “Walk of Fame.” The Title Sponsor is available for $4,000 and includes an eight-person table and full-page program ad, as well as a speaking opportunity at the event. You can also purchase an eight-person table for $325, and individual tickets are $45 per person.
