Chamber Highlight –Holiday Window Display Contest–

This past Holiday Season, for the second time, Ely and White Pine took part in a color-filled and cheerful Holiday Window Display Contest. The White Pine Chamber of Commerce threw in $500 in prizes for a Community’s Choice and Chamber’s Choice Award. Electronic survey votes were gathered over the course of the month of December, and, with so many collected, the Winner of the Community Choice Window Award for 2024, was Dixie Leavitt Insurance Group, with their hand painted Pink frosting and Gingerbread theme.

Celebrating all things winter, festive, and spirited, the Chamber was delighted to see window displays all throughout the area, including from Flower Basket, State Farm, Copper Queen, Juanita’s, Deserest Motel, H&R Block, Desert Rose Ceramics, The Nevada Northern Railway, La Fiesta, White Pine County Library, The Prospector, and The Grooming Lounge; to name a few. From painted panel windows, to brilliant lighting decorating the facades of so many businesses, Ely and White Pine is earning the title of Winter Wonderland. With last year’s winner, This and That Gift Shop setting such a high bar, it is travelers and locals getting out and about to shop small and shop local that were able to benefit from the enjoyment of several locations decking their halls. Klaas Realty, KDSS, Jay’s Music Exchange, Economy Drug, Extraordinary Things Boutique, Club Rio, and the Reed Building, also got in the Christmas spirit. With the downtown tree and lighted ornament, there was more than enough to feel merry and bright, even with little to no snow.

Winning the second award was Let’s Print & More with their triple window spread, featuring Christmas Village, Frosty the Snowman, and gifts under a tree. Both Dixie Leavitt and Let’s Print & More do much to go above and beyond for the benefit of the community, and the holidays are a perfect representation of the extra efforts they and so many in our area provide to enhance the quality of life here in White Pine.

2025’s Holidays at Home and the Chamber’s Shop Small Shop Local Campaign will kick off in the fall season, with special promotions and incentives for businesses and shoppers, from Black Friday through December 31st. We invite every business to compete this coming Christmas season. It’s never too early to start planning your Holiday Windows and display ideas!
