Charlotte Rae Reeves

November 22, 2024 by Bristlecone Tribune Leave a Comment

It is with anguish in our hearts and souls that we announce the passing of Charlotte Rae (Slight) Reeves. Charlotte passed away in her Ely, NV home on October 29, 2024 at the age of 68.

Charlotte was born on December 10, 1955 in Ely, Nevada to Dora and Russell Slight. She was the youngest of 4 children. She attended grammar school at Sacred Heart Catholic Church then graduated from White Pine High School in 1974. She attended community college for one year before attending nursing school in Reno. She worked as an LPN in Reno and Las Vegas.

Charlotte returned to Ely in 1983. She met her husband Tim Reeves in 1985. Tim and Charlotte combined their families into one and raised 5 children together. Charlotte put her nursing career on hold to be a homemaker and stay at home mom. She was known to have a house full of neighborhood children and be at every possible event her children were in. After her kids were in school full-time she started her own housekeeping business. Charlotte returned to nursing as an LPN in 2006 at the White Pine Care Center in Ely.

Charlotte enjoyed spending time with her family, baking, gardening and being in nature. She was a friend to all filled with compassion and spirit. She is described as altruistic by people who knew her, making sure to put everyone else in front of herself. At the end of the day, she made sure that everyone in the room was okay and had a smile on their face. She had a heart of gold and the spirit of a saint, but she would be sure to cuss you out like a sailor if you were in the wrong, and especially if you messed with her children or her grandchildren. It was hard to be a sunflower but she was.

Charlotte is survived by her children; Duffy (Sam) McDonough, Shealene McDonough, Amanda (Eddie) Reeves Lemire, and Jeremey McDonough. Grandchildren; Samantha Lemire, Chesney Reeves, Marlene Reeves, Nadia McDonough, Karmen Reeves, Ayah Coogler, Makenzie McDonough, Max McDonough, Kya Lemire, Sonia McDonough and Liam McDonough. Great grandson due in January 2025. Siblings: Keith Slight, and Vada (Steve) Hubbard. Sister-in-law Leatha Reeves, brother-in-law Rick Nunn, several nieces and nephews.

Charlotte is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years Tim Reeves (1951-2024). Beloved son Jedediah Edward Reeves (1981-2004). Parents Dora and Russell Slight and sister Marva Slight.

A memorial will be held in the spring of 2025. Details to be announced at a later date.
