Cheryl Faith O’Rear

Cheryl Faith O’Rear, known for her kindness, laughter, and constant generosity, gained her wings on April 1st, 2025.

Cheryl was born on July 16th, 1952, in Ely, Nevada, to Joyce and Jim Lee. She graduated from Carson High School in 1971. She married her first husband, William Shirley II, and had two daughters, Corrina and Patricia. After they divorced, Cheryl moved to Carson City, Nevada with her daughters.

Cheryl’s daughter Patricia gained her wings in 1986 in Carson City, Nevada.

Cheryl married Michael O’Rear and moved to Yerington, Nevada, and then to Fernley, Nevada. Cheryl, Michael, and Corrina eventually planted their roots back in her hometown of Ely, Nevada, where she began working at the White Pine Care Center. Cheryl and Michael divorced.

Cheryl was always a giver. She was nominated as the “Go-to-Person” at the White Pine Care Center for her acts of selflessness, always being the one to do something special to make the residents’ day. She did this outside of work for her family and friends on a daily basis as well. Cheryl has always brought smiles and laughter to those around her.

After leaving the White Pine Care Center, Cheryl started doing home health care, where she enjoyed spending time with her clients in their homes and sharing her infectious personality.

Cheryl loved to travel and go on spontaneous adventures. She enjoyed playing badminton, singing, reading, taking her dogs for walks, riding bikes, playing games, and spending time with her daughter and grandchildren. She enjoyed her church family at the Ely United Methodist Church.

Cheryl’s adventures have concluded down here on earth, but we know she is starting new ones with her loved ones in heaven. She was predeceased by her parents Joyce and Jim Lee, her daughter Patricia Shirley, and her sisters, Janet, Peggy, Sarah, and Laura Lee.

She is survived by her daughter, Corrina (Juan) Noriega, her granddaughters, Patricia (Raymond Kelly Gubler), and Keylee Noriega (Oscar Daniel Iribe), her great-grandsons, Beau and Paxten Gubler, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held at the Ely United Methodist Church on Sunday, April 13 at 1 p.m.
