Cody Thomas Nicholes passed away on October 31st, 2023, in Ely, NV., at the age of 38 along with his loving wife, Chelsea Norcross Nicholes. Cody was born on November 1st, 1984, in Ely, NV., to Roger Dean Nicholes and Vicki Higley Nicholes. He was the second of two sons.
Cody attended White Pine High School and later pursued higher education at the University of Nevada Reno where he received a bachelor’s degree in Forest and Rangeland Management.
While attending UNR, Cody met the love of his life, Chelsea Norcross. Cody and Chelsea were married on July 24, 2010, and began to build their beautiful marriage and family together. They were blessed with three beautiful, intelligent, and loving children Cason, Cole, and Caydence.
Cody started working for the U.S. Forest Service after high school and worked there for his entire career in several different capacities. In the summer of 2020, he had a dream scenario come true, Cody was able to train to become a Law Enforcement Officer for the U.S. Forest Service. This allowed him and his wife to move their amazing family back home to Ely to live.
Cody loved the outdoors, hunting, and being with his family and friends. Cody and Chelsea were very active in their children’s sporting activities. Cody coached several youth sports, encouraging, teaching and loving youth throughout White Pine County. Cody was a strong, loyal, and loving husband, father, son, and brother. He loved to spend as much time as he could with his family and supporting them in everything that they did.
Cody is survived by his children Cason, Cole, and Caydence Nicholes. His brother, Stacey (Julie) Nicholes, nephews Jackson, Tyson, Kaden, and Bryant. His father-in-law Lyle Norcross. His brother in laws Cameron (Jen) Norcross, nieces and nephew Kylie, Jacob, Madison; and Casey (Stephanie) Norcross, nephew and niece Bodie and Ivie. Cody is preceded in death by his father, Roger Nicholes and his mother Vicki Nicholes.
Services for Cody and Chelsea will be held at the White Pine High School in Ely, NV., on November 18, 2023 at 11am.
