This October board the Haunted Ghost Train of Old Ely for a spooktacular excursion, or enjoy a steam-powered train ride to the pumpkin patch…if you dare!
ELY, NEV. – Halloween enthusiasts can head out to Ely for a ‘breath of fresh scare’ at the Nevada Northern Railway. Deja Boo? Ely’s famous steam-powered historical landmark is offering yet another year of haunted expeditions this season, and there’s something for the entire family. As always, it’s recommended to buy tickets early, as the NNRY’s holiday train rides often sell out fast. Here’s a closer look at each of the two train rides.
The Haunted Ghost Train

The NNRy is gearing up for the holiday season, starting with the Pumpkin Train and heading right into the Haunted Ghost Train
As passengers board the Haunted Ghost Train of Old Ely, superstitions begin to emerge. Is it just that time of year or is it the desolation of roaring hills that bring the ghost stories alive? As the rig rolls into the darkness, passengers brace themselves for sightings of scary horror-story characters coming to life.
“The ghost train is a spooktacular event for guests of all ages,” said Mark Bassett, president of Nevada Northern Railway. “We invite fans of a good, lighthearted scare to bundle-up and join us for a haunted nighttime ride complete with sightings of headless horsemen, the undead and extraterrestrial activity.”
The Haunted Ghost Train of Old Ely runs Oct. 20-21 and 27-28 and departs at 7 p.m. Tickets are $45 for adults, $38 for seniors and $20 for children ages 4-12; children under four ride for free. To reserve your tickets, click this link: NNRY.Com/train-rides/#ghosttrain

The area is a perfect spot for a fall-themed photo op. The Pumpkin Train runs Oct. 7 and Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. Tickets are $45 for adults, $38 for seniors and $20 for children ages 4-12, while children under four ride for free.
