Deadline for poetry contest fast approaching

The White Pine County Library is partnering with the Nevada Northern Railway for our best children’s poetry contest yet.

To enter, children 5-18 years old can contact the Library for a photograph that will be used as a prompt. Children must create an original poem. Poems must be submitted to the Library with a completed registration for by April 28, 2025, and all poems must be performed by the poet at the poetry contest on May 3, 2025 at 10:00 am.

Every poet is invited to perform their work on a special train ride at the Nevada Northern Railway and will be given a family pass for tickets to this special train on May 17, 2025 at 1:00 pm. These tickets can only be used for the poetry train.

Prizes for each age group will receive a Kindle Fire Tablet for first place and a gift certificate for second place. Get registered now!
