This past weekend the Ely Shoshone Tribe hosted their annual Powwow and Fandango. Luckily this year they didn’t have to deal with rain, but mother nature didn’t let them off too easily, they still had to compete with the wind. People from all around came to watch the traditional Powwows and learn about Native culture and traditions. Lead by the Master of Ceremonies Harlod Begaye, natives danced to the beat of the drummers.
Numerous activities went on all weekend. Archery Shoot, Hand Games and Cornhole were just a few of the events that went on throughout the weekend. This year the Horseshoe Tournament was held in memory of tribal member Rodney McQueen.

Sasha Horsley – Dancers dressed in beautiful attire dance during the Powwow.
There were numerous vendors selling food from many different cultures, Native American jewelry, throws and blankets just to name a few.
The annual festivities were one for the books with a great turnout.
