Ferron Jay Justesen

Ferron Jay Justesen known to all as Jay Justesen was born on June 4, 1937 in Ely Nevada and was a lifelong resident of McGill Nevada. Jay died on November 15, 2024 at the age of 87.

Jay is survived by his wife of 42 years Sara Justesen of McGill, his two sons Larry Justesen of Chester, Virginia and James Justesen of Las Vegas, Nevada and grandchildren Ellen, Eric and Zachary and his beloved little dog Rosie.

Jay served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Washington State. Other than his time in the Air Force he worked for Kennecott in McGill from the time he graduated from White Pine High School until the mill was shut down in the 80s. After his time at Kennecott he lived briefly in Barstow, California returning as soon as he could to his beloved White Pine County. He worked in maintenance for the local school district until his retirement.

Jay was an avid outdoorsman enjoying trapping, hunting, fishing and spending as much time as he could in the mountains and at the lakes he loved. He was an accomplished taxidermist in his youth.

Jay’s memorial service was held on November 23rd in Ely where he was laid to rest.
