The Great Basin College Ely Center will be offering two exciting new continuing education classes beginning in July. They are Substitute Teacher Preparation and Introduction to Computer Literacy.
The Substitute Teacher Preparation class will be Friday, July 12 and Saturday, July 13, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.. Emphasis is placed on understanding student behavior, developing effective communication skills, and fostering a positive learning environment. Participants will learn to adapt quickly to different classroom settings, implement school policies, and handle emergencies confidently. The course includes practical training sessions including role-playing scenarios and observation opportunities in real classroom environments. By the end of the course participants will be prepared to step into a teacher’s role at short notice, ensuring continuity in student learning and maintaining educational standards.
The Introduction to Computer Literacy class will take place every Tuesday from July 16, through August 20, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.. This course provides a comprehensive introduction to computer basics, designed for individuals with little to no prior experience. Students will learn essential skills including navigating the operating system, understanding basic hardware and software components, using common applications, and browsing the internet safely. Participants will gain confidence in using computers for everyday tasks.
