In loving memory of Ivan Meryl Lee, Meryl to his closest friends and family.
Meryl passed away on November 9, 2023 at the age of 84 at his home in Ely, Nevada.
Meryl was born on February 1, 1939 in Reno Nevada to Ordie and Mae Lee. Meryl was the second oldest of five children. His parents also adopted two of their grandchildren. Meryl lived in Kimberly and Reep Town where he attended grade school until the fourth grade when they moved to East Ely and that was when he met the love of his life Mary Louise. Meryl and Mary Louise were friends all through high school. Meryl graduated from White Pine High School in June of 1958.
On November 27, 1958 Meryl and Mary Louise were married in Ely, Nevada. They lived in Cobalt Idaho for a year. Meryl worked for Isabella construction as a mechanic. They also lived in Winnemucca, Nevada as Meryl worked for Slim Olson. That didn’t last very long before they decided to move back to Ely, NV. That’s when he went to work for Kennecott as a mechanic. He worked there until he retired in 1993. Meryl and Mary Louise had four children Teresa, Baby Girl, Ken and Becky.
Meryl loved to go fishing. He would play hooky every Friday afternoon so he could go fishing. His favorite fishing holes were Kingston and Wildhorse. He enjoyed riding horses and motorcycles in his younger years. He also enjoyed welding and being a mechanic. His greatest love was spending time with his family. He loved going to breakfast on Sunday mornings with his wife Mary Lou and after her passing he went to breakfast with his grandson. He loved to go to lunch with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Meryl loved to spend time in the great outdoors hunting, fishing, gathering wood or just going for a ride in the mountains.
Meryl is survived by his brother Don Lee, sister Crystal Caviglia, daughter Teresa (Rance) Hutchinson, son in law Toni Nardi, daughter in law Charlette Lee, 18 Grandchildren Jaramie (& Jessica) Hutchinson, Josh (& Danalynn) Hutchinson, Kate (& Cody) Adams, Kyle (& Rakira) Hutchinson, Riley (& Tami) Hutchinson, Vicky Vanderpool, Misty (& Steve) Sevy, Amy Windous, Joseph (& Kasey) Nardi, Thomas Nardi, Kami Jo Lee, 25 Great grandchildren and 11 Great Great Grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Meryl is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister, two daughters, one son, one granddaughter, one great granddaughter, one great grandson and the love of his life, Mary Louise.
Pallbearers are Jaramie Hutchinson, Josh Hutchinson, Kyle Hutchinson, Riley Hutchinson, Joseph Nardi, Cody Adams and Thomas Nardi.
Honorary Pallbearers are Kadyn Adams, Axle Hutchinson and Stetson Hutchinson
Graveside services will be held Friday the 17th at 11:00 AM at the Ely City Cemetery.
