This is an old Nevada Consolidated Copper Company telephone directory. As near as I can tell it is somewhere between 1935 and 1941.
The reason is that Cliff Dreitzler is listed. He became a Deputy Sheriff in McGill on January 1, 1935 and was murdered on November 7, 1941
I remember a lot of the names, such as Huffer, Inwood, Jones, Preston etc etc. J. C. Kinnear is listed. He became General Manager in 1928 replacing Lakemanm.
I noticed that there were only 2 Main street businesses listed-McGill Drug Store and McGill National Bank.
The whole telephone system was put in place by NCC and was not part of the national Bell Phone System. These ‘company’ phones were limited to the big shots and special foremen. My Dad got one in 1950 when he became machine shop foreman. In order to access the Bell System, we had to go to the little house on the NE corner of Main and J Avenue and make our call through the Bell operator and switchboard.
As young McGill heathens in the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s, if we wanted to talk to our friends we used the Schwinn or Red Wing system. That is to say – get on our Schwinn bike or hoof it, in our Red Wing boots.
It was “personal” communication instead of “impersonal” with dumb phones and texting. I think that is why we made such lifelong friends. It also provided us with lots of exercise for our legs and bodies instead of just our thumbs.

Whenever I see a picture or chart, my somewhat devious mind wants to put a date on it. That was the case with the telephone list. I started trying to remember who was there in what years. The one thing I did not do was read the whole list. I just did and found that this list was revised on May 7, 1941. So it is best to read the whole thing, before commenting.
Here is the rest of the list. Note the simple instructions on how to call a number. One must remember that before then, you had to have a local operator dial for you.
