After taking down Wells in a doubleheader sweep on March 22, the White Pine High School softball team was back six days later in Henderson to face Green Valley Christian in a 2A South showdown.

White Pine controlled both games, winning 15-1 and 19-1, respectively, to extend their winning streak to four.
In the first game, although Green Valley took a 1-0 lead going into the second inning, the Ladycat offense started to roll in the second, scoring six times. Then, White Pine scored eight times in the third before adding one more in the fourth, leading to the mercy rule victory.
All nine players in the lineup recorded at least one hit and eight of the nine players recorded at least one RBI.
Senior Kendra Derbidge along with sophomores Camden Johnson and Adelaide Costello went 2-for-3 to lead the offense.
Sophomore Layla Ruesch went 1-for-3, but her hit was big, sending the ball over the fence for a three-run home run for her first long ball this season.
Senior Gianna Sedlacek took the ball in the circle. She threw a complete game, going five innings, limiting Green Valley to one hit while striking out seven to earn the win. Sedlacek also gave up one run, which was unearned.
In the second game of the doubleheader, White Pine jumped out to a 10-0 lead entering the bottom of the first inning and before the Ladycats could throw a pitch. After Green Valley scored one run in the bottom of the first, White Pine matched it in the second.
Then in the third inning, the floodgates opened, scoring eight times before ending the game in the bottom of the third inning, due to mercy rule.
Sophomore Camden Johnson led the way offensively, going 4-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs. In addition, Johnson went 2-for-3 with a game-high four RBIs in the victory.
With the win, White Pine improves to 7-8 overall and gets to .500 in league play with a 2-2 record. That also puts the Ladycats in a tie for third place with Awaken Christian, who the team plays twice this week on April 4.
First pitches between White Pine and Awaken Christian are slated for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
