Last week the Lund FFA hosted a Donkey Basketball game. The fundraiser was to raise money for their yearly trip to Reno for FFA State.
If you haven’t seen a game of Donkey Basketball you’re really missing out. Four teams were made up of students and community members. Two games were played first and then the winners of those games played each other. The crowd watched as the players mounted their donkeys and fought over the basketball while riding back and forth on the court trying to make a basket. It was an evening of entertainment, the crowd going wild with the constant shenanigans on the court. The donkeys did their best to take their rider as close as they could to the basket for an easy layup. The winning team received shirts and bragging rights.
It was fun for the whole family with the FFA also selling Navajo tacos, scones and fresh lemonade in the cafeteria.
“It was a great night with some pretty good laughs.
The Lund FFA was able to raise around $1,500 so they go to state in Reno. We really live in a great community where people come together to support a good cause. Around 150 people showed up for dinner and a show.
We would like to thank all those who participated in any way, especially Perigo’s and Carter’s Ranch for supplying us with delicious beef for the Navajo tacos,” said Krystee Hamilton who coordinated the event.
