It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary L. Gossett Goff. On July 8, 2024 in Ely, Nevada.
Mary was born on April 17, 1941 in Spartanburg, South Carolina to Roy and Ruth Gossett. She was the youngest of four children. She married Ron Goff on April 20, 1959. After years of Ron’s service in The Air Force, they settled out west where they raised a family. In addition to being a wife and mother she was employed with White Pine County School District at the McGill Elementary School for several years. While she and Ron maintained the school for years they developed relationships with many of the students. Many people in the community will remember her from working at Gorman’s Market which later became Ridley’s Market.
Mary was fantastic at crocheting, baking, gardening and was a lover of the sun. She loved old rock-n-roll, Bob Seger was a favorite and would get her moving around and bring out her playful side. She had a great love for her family and any opportunity she could have to take care of someone she did it with great pleasure and pride. Family was everything for her. In November 2023 she was blessed with her first great-great-granddaughter. She was proud to have five generations of women in one room.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother Roy and Ruth Gossett, sisters Margaret and Patsy and brother Jim. Husband Ron Goff, two of their daughters Rhonda Vargas and Ruth Ayala. She is survived by daughter Willadine Polk, son Ron (Annette) Goff. Five grandchildren, Amy Adams, Jarrod (Tina) Rino, Matt Houghton, Brian (Tonya) Goff, C.J. (Ashley) Brown. Eight great-grandchildren with one on the way. Two great-great-granddaughter with a third on the way.
Graveside services will be held Friday July 12, 2024 at 10am at Ely City Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Jarrod Rino, Matt Houghton, Nate Adams, C.J. Brown, Clay Holland and Colton Allred. Honorary pallbearers include, Brian Goff, Jarrod Jr. Rino, Zach Rino, Gage Brown, Mark Johnson.
