McGill is gearing up for an unforgettable Annual Labor Day weekend celebration. Residents and visitors alike will join in the festivities that promise a blend of tradition and entertainment.
Parade Kicks Off the Festivities. The excitement begins with a lively parade set to grace the iconic Main Street of McGill. The parade’s assembly point will be behind the McGill grade school, where participants are encouraged to gather at 5:30 p.m. at 4th and Avenue G, the parade will commence its journey, weaving through the heart of the town until it reaches 4th and Avenue K. Here, the streets will come alive with the rhythm of the McGill Annual Labor Day street dance. Local vendors will be serving food and for those seeking refreshment of a different kind, the McGill volunteer fire department presents a well-stocked bar to ensure a responsibly enjoyable evening. The street dance, a highlight of the weekend, will be from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Saturday Big Splash and Community BBQ. On Saturday, the festivities continue to thrive at the McGill Swimming Pool with the much-awaited “Big Splash” town barbecue. The event springs to life at 11 a.m., featuring a spread of free hot dogs and hamburgers generously provided by the McGill town council. The event promises something for everyone, from vendor booths displaying local crafts to a bouncy house for kids to enjoy and horseshoe tournament. The McGill Swimming Pool, an emblem of community spirit, will be the backdrop for this vibrant gathering. The pool itself will host the exciting “big splash” event, bringing summer to a close with a splash of joy through an array of games tailored for children.
Sunday’s Showdown and Spectacular Finale. Sunday’s highlight will be a softball showdown between the members of the McGill fire department and the officers of the White Pine County Sheriff’s Office. To witness this thrilling match-up, a nominal $2 gate fee is required, with all proceeds channeled toward the invaluable support of the McGill Recreation Association (MRA) for the betterment of the ballpark. The evening’s finale is a fireworks display orchestrated by the experts at Great Basin Pyrotechnics, casting vibrant hues across the McGill ballpark’s canvas at 9 p.m.
