Carter Steven Nielson and Elisabeth Anne Wheable have been named Students of the Month for September, according to Ely Elks Lodge #1469.
Carter Steven Nielson and Elisabeth Anne Wheable are named the Elks Students of the month for September 2024.
Nielson, age 17, is the son of Curtis and Debrah Nielson of McGill. Wheable, age 17, is the daughter of Michael and Bethany Wheable of Ely. Both are Seniors at White Pine High School and will graduate with the Class of 2025.
The Student of the Month program is sponsored by the Elks Lodge in an effort to bring recognition to outstanding students in the area.
Multiple achievement, citizenship, scholarship and leadership are the basis for selection of Students of the Month.
Nielson has been active in robotics, cross country, NAGT and band. His hobbies are robotics, 3D printing, coding and Lego mac building.
Wheable has been active as team captain for football, Team captain for volleyball for two years, team captain for wrestling for two years, track and field, Vice-President of the National Honor Society, Student Council Class Secretary and Student Body Secretary. She is also the Historian for JAG and an intern for William Bee Ririe Hospital. Her hobbies are sports, working out, hunting, fishing, cooking and hanging out with family and friends.
