Nancy Riedell, watercolor artist, is holding her May 2nd Saturday event on Saturday, May 10, the day before Mother’s Day. She has over 100 pieces of art on display. There are several pieces of art that would make a perfect Mother’s Day gift, such as floral paintings, landscapes, abstracts, and rock paintings. Several of these paintings are framed and ready to be hung where Mom can enjoy them every day. You are bound to find something for Mom that she can treasure for years.

Riedell majored in art in both high school and college. She returned to her art once her children were grown. She has been painting professionally since 2005 and has been in numerous art galleries in several states. She has won eight awards and has been interviewed in three magazines. The most recent interview is scheduled for later this month. Her work is in two online art galleries from Paris, France, one from London, England, and one from Los Angeles, California.
Riedell moved to Ely in 2023 to be closer to her son, who works at Ely State Prison. Now that she has gotten older, she feels the need to be closer to family.
Riedell feels fortunate to have gotten a studio, an office, and a small gallery on Ely’s main street. Every second Saturday of each month, she holds an open studio event for people to visit and chat with her about her experiences. Upon request, she also holds small workshops that can accommodate up to six students.
Most recently, she created a gallery wall that ranges from flowers to small landscapes to children’s art. Each piece is framed and under $200. She intends to expand on this gallery wall in the near future.
She also has gift cards made from hand painted watercolors that sell for $5 each.
If you are looking for that perfect Mother’s Day gift, a nice, framed painting may be the way to go. Her studio is located at 448C Aultman Street in Studio 1, upstairs. It is directly across from Extraordinary Things. The studio will be open from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 10.
