Richard “Red” Sims, was born February 26, 1952, in White Pine County, to Philip and Marilyn Sims. Red passed away in the White Pine Care Center on February 13, 2025.
Red went to East Ely Grade School, now known as the DEN. He joined the Army before he graduated from White Pine High School in 1971, and received his GED. Red was the Sales Manager for Blach Distributing Company for 44 years, and retired from that position on June 30, 2024.
In the year 2000, he was ordained Priest for the St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church. He held that position until Easter Sunday, 2024.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Kenny and Gerald, and many aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Shelba-Kay “Paula”; son Eric and wife Bee, their two children Hasan and Nimrah; brother, Larry and his family; and many cousins and friends near and far away.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at The St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church 209 7th St. Ely, NV.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Steve Dobrescu, Gary Fairman, Rob Cummings, Dennis Mishler, Dennis Hone, and Tony Locke In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to your favorite charity or to Red’s favorites:
