Sena and Noyes qualify for Vegas Tuffest Junior World Championship

Brooklynn Sena, sophomore at White Pine High School, and Sage Noyes, second grade at the Ely Learning Bridge Charter School, both of Ely, Nevada, qualified to compete in the Vegas Tuffest Jr. World Championship this December. Brooklynn is a dual qualifier and will be competing in the 19U Goat Tying and the 19U Barrel Racing. Sage will be competing in the 10U Breakaway Roping.

Neither of these athletes are strangers to the arena or rodeo. Brooklynn is in her second year of high school rodeo and has competed in Jr high school rodeo as well. She has qualified for Jr high school finals two times, in 3 events, and attended the high school national finals her freshman year in barrel racing. Sage has been swinging a rope since before he could walk and competes in youth and junior rodeos frequently. Sage was also one of 14 contestants selected to compete as part of the Hebert’s Town & Country Dodge Team for additional swag and a chance to win added sponsor money and prizes.

Brooklynn and Sage will be two of over 1300 contestants from 31 different states, including 3 provinces in Canada, competing December 4-10 at the Mike and Sherrylynn Johnson Vegas Tuffest Jr. World Championship which is held the first weekend of the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nevada at The Expo at the World Market Center.

“We held 50 qualifiers across the United States and Canada to give our rodeo youth an equal chance to make it to Vegas and the opportunity to win their share of $1.75 million + in cash & prizes,” said Sherrylynn

Johnson, the event’s organizer and four time qualifier for the National Finals Rodeo and her husband Mike Johnson, an ironman of rodeo who has qualified for the National Finals Rodeo a whopping 23 times, said the event offers barrel racing (including a 7 & Under Barrel Racing specialty event), double mugging, goat tying, breakaway roping, tie down roping and team roping.

“We have different age groups, 19 & Under, 15 & Under, 12 & Under and 10 & Under,” Johnson said. “Each Vegas Tuffest Jr. World Champion will take home $10-40K in cash. We’re the highest stakes payout in five events for youth in rodeo history.”

Mike also noted that the total payout, including three Dodge Ram dually trucks is to exceed $1.5 million in cash and awards this year.

“Winners will take home electric Trek bikes, Crickets, saddles, rope cans, World Champion rings, and plenty of swag from our A-list group of sponsors.
