It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sherry Lee Holt, who joined her great-granddaughter, brother, mother, and father on April 30th, 2025. Born on December 17, 1944, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Cledus and Lois Jeffries, Sherry moved to Reno at a young age. At 16, she met Jim Holt, the love of her life. They married after high school on February 10th, 1965, and shared 64 wonderful years together.
Sherry is survived by her sister Cleda Jeffries, two children, Robert Holt (Adina Ezzell) and Barbara Langlois (Ed Langlois); four grandchildren, Chris Wallace, Julie Baca (Jeremiah Baca), Michael Holt, and Amanda Merideth (Josh Merideth); and eleven great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Family was the cornerstone of Sherry’s life, as she lovingly raised her two children and a set of grandchildren.
Sherry was the highlight of any gathering, bringing the party wherever she went. Everyone will fondly remember her as “Granny,” cruising Main Street with her dog Oreo in the basket and her signature crochet hat. Her vibrant spirit and loving nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A celebration of Sherry’s life will be held at a later date.
