The Silver State Classic Challenge (SSCC) is proud to announce the return of the Nevada Open Road Challenge, taking place May 15–18, 2025 in White Pine County. This thrilling annual event draws car enthusiasts and speed fans from across the country to the high desert highways of central Nevada.
This year’s weekend-long celebration of speed kicks off Friday evening, May 16, with a car parade beginning at 5:30 PM. The parade will start at White Pine High School, travel down Great Basin Highway, continue along Aultman Street, and end at Broadbent Park.

On Saturday, May 17, the public is invited to Broadbent Park to get an up-close look at the competing vehicles. The static car display runs from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with the White Pine Lions Club serving breakfast from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
The main event, the Nevada Open Road Challenge, takes place on Sunday, May 18, with Highway 318 closed between Lund and Hiko from 5:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The 119.78-mile race course is one of the longest and most unique in the world, offering speed classes ranging from 95 mph to Unlimited. Racers attempt to hit their target time and speed with precision, using GPS-based timing. First-time participants are required to complete a rookie orientation course before they can compete.
All race activities, including registration, driver meetings, and the awards banquet, will be headquartered in Ely, Nevada.
“This event is more than a race—it’s a celebration of engineering, driving skill, and Nevada’s open roads,” said a representative from SSCC. “We look forward to welcoming racers and spectators back to Ely for another unforgettable year.”
