Bradley’s Bestway and the White Pine Chamber of Commerce helped raise over $5000 for a donation to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. Last week, two lucky contestants participated in a Supermarket Sweep fundraiser and got to haul off carts full of over $600 in groceries as a result.
This past spring, Bradley’s Bestway joined the Chamber of Commerce and both organizations began working on an idea to drum up a community project that would be fun and give back to a charitable cause. With MS affecting her personally, and with the grocery store having made so many improvements under her management, Tiffany Ogden knew the time was right to go big; and the Chamber was ready to help her small business bring the idea to fruition.
Over the course of a whole month, Bradley’s Bestway customers were able to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win a full one-minute shopping spree around the store. Last Saturday, the adult winner, John Perondi, and the minor’s ticket winner, Brenley Skadburg, raced around the aisles collecting as many items as they could before the buzzer. All in all, mostly going for the meats and big-ticket items like laundry detergent was a clever strategy. Shadrach Robertson, the director of the White Pine Chamber of Commerce was on hand to represent the Chamber’s Board of Directors, who all covered the cost of the items, so all the funds raised could be donated.
The classic TV game show, Supermarket Sweep, was a favorite of a generation of shoppers. What better way to help donate for a good cause and get a chance to run through a store for free stuff. “It was so much fun and we will look to do it again,” said Ogden, who is in treatment for MS and coordinated matching donations with her care providers. Working to support others and do good in the community is what Bradley’s Bestway and the Chamber of Commerce is all about. Thank you to everyone that came out for the cause.
