On Monday, April 7, 2025, at approximately 8:30 A.M. Pacific Time, troopers with the Nevada Highway Patrol received a report of a reckless vehicle traveling eastbound on Interstate 80, toward West Wendover, NV., from the Elko County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle was described as a dark blue BMW sedan traveling in excess of 100 MPH. A trooper located a vehicle matching the description traveling eastbound in excess of 120 MPH.

The trooper conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the male driver and female passenger. The driver was placed under arrest for multiple traffic violations.
Subsequent investigation lead to the discovery of approximately 2.5 pounds (approximately 16,000) suspected fentanyl pills in the vehicle.
Nevada Investigations Division conducted additional investigation which determined the female passenger provided false information about her identity to law enforcement personnel on scene.
The driver was booked on charges of reckless driving, driving without a valid driver license, and trafficking a schedule 1 controlled substance: 400 grams or more.
