The 2025 NIAA 2A Boys Golf East Regional took place last week for White Pine at Toana Vista, a par-72 course in West Wendover.
White Pine, who was the reigning 2A East regional champion, was looking to find that magic again this year.

However, White Pine was unable to create that depth. The Bobcats did have three golfers inside the top 10, but were unable to get that fourth player to have a score well enough to succeed, placing third.
The top two scoring teams advanced and the top five and ties also qualified for state.
As a team, White Pine placed third at 407 strokes, which was 15 strokes behind Oasis, which finished second.
However, the Bobcats still had their individuals perform strong.
Travis Peterson, who was last year’s regional champion, placed third at 83 total strokes.
The resume of Peterson in the regionals has been electric. Prior to winning last year, he placed fourth in 2023, marking three consecutive top five finishes.
Then, in a tie for 10th, which also turned out to be the fifth best score (among teams not already qualified), both Holden Windous and Zyaden McClintock from White Pine qualified with a score of 102.
As a result, Peterson, Windous and McClintock earned their tickets to this week’s 2A State tournament, which takes place May 13-14 at The Club at Sunrise in Las Vegas. It is a two-day 36-hole event.
Last year, Petersen placed fourth in the state tournament, shooting 80-74 and three strokes back of third.
