Welcome to another installment of White Pine: Then & Now!
In this week’s edition, we take a look at another one of Ely’s homes, this time on Clark Street (which may have still been known as Garden Street when this photo was taken). The home, seen here sometime before 1912, was built in 1902 and stood until around 2017 when it was finally torn down. My parents owned it from 1993 to around 2014 when the county acquired it. It was sold one last time in 2017 and subsequently torn down as it had been unlivable for the previous ten years or so. A dirt parking lot used by Rack’s Bar and Grill sits on this lot and the lot immediately west of it today. The only thing remaining of this house are a couple of bricks I salvaged from the chimney during the demolition.
