Last week, White Pine High School (WPHS) proudly celebrated its 4th Annual Wish Week, an inspiring event hosted by the WPHS National Honor Society (NHS). The NHS students transformed the school into a festive space, with balloon arches and vibrant wall-to-wall decorations that greeted students as they kicked off a week of fun and fundraising.

The week began on Monday with Spirit Day and a Movie Night at the Convention Center, setting the tone for the days ahead. Tuesday featured a community-wide dodgeball tournament in the high school gym, drawing in teams and spectators from across town. On Wednesday, students donned their Wish Week gear while JT’s Steakhouse hosted a silent auction filled with generous donations from local businesses and residents. Thursday brought an evening BBQ, complete with yard games and board games, fostering a warm sense of camaraderie. The week wrapped up with a WPHS home track meet on Friday, closing the event on a high note.
Wish Week raises funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and this year’s efforts were in honor of Jerry’s Wish. Jerry, a courageous 7-year-old diagnosed with cancer in 2024, has undergone multiple surgeries and chemotherapy treatments, including one procedure to remove his right eye. Despite it all, Jerry remains full of hope and determination. His heartfelt wish is to receive a gaming PC setup so he can begin creating his own video games. He dreams of a purple desk, a light-up keyboard, LED lights, a gaming chair, and a setup adorned with stickers like his dad’s.
Since its inception, Wish Week has united WPHS students and the wider community in a shared mission of compassion and generosity. This year was no exception. Through dedication and teamwork, the WPHS NHS once again brought people together to make a meaningful difference and helped light the way toward a young boy’s dream.
