For the last 8 months the Community Muti-Disciplinary Team Subcommittee has been involved in creating a community-wide movement to represent inclusion with a focus on mental health. This movement started with a hope walk in October. Then a mural contest by the White Pine students. A couple months ago we showcased the murals done at the high school by 2 student finalists with the help of a local artist, Taylor Archambault. Winner Autumn Taylor is currently working with muralist James Vincek on a downtown mural.
These are just the start of the movement, with more things planned in the future.
The next community event is scheduled for April 26 at the Bristlecone Convention Center. This event is to get the community more involved in this movement. Starting at 11:00 the event will have multiple speakers, booths, demonstrations and performances. Later in the afternoon there will be a ribbon cutting at Economy Drug for the Mural done by Autumn Taylor and James Vincek. Food trucks will be onsite at the event for lunch and dinner. The evening will close with a raffle sponsored by JT’s Steakhouse. Throughout the event you will have the opportunity to take a Belonging Pledge on one of four large canvases that will rotate through the community. The pledge is to commit to doing what you can to find ways to belong as well as help others feel connected.
