City of Ely awarded matching grant for new rescue fire engine

May 25, 2024 by Bristlecone Tribune Leave a Comment

Ely, Nevada – May 9, 2024 – The City of Ely is extremely happy to announce they have been awarded a matching grant from the William N. Pennington Foundation for a new Rescue Fire Engine for the City’s Fire Department.

This new Rescue Engine will be a great upgrade for the residents and visitors of Ely and all of White Pine and surrounding counties.

This process has been a great community collaboration with the City of Ely, White Pine County, William B. Ririe Hospital, KGHM Robinson Nevada Mining Company, the Ely Volunteer Fire Department, White Pine Tourism and Recreation, the White Pine Chamber of Commerce, and White Pine Main Street.

William N. Pennington was a gaming pioneer, successful entrepreneur, and one of Nevada’s leading philanthropists. The William N. Pennington Foundation has been tremendously generous to our community, funding many projects such as: the White Pine High School Health Sciences addition and school playground equipment, the William B. Ririe Hospital Cardiac Unit and many facility improvements, the Boys and Girls Club Early Learning Center, the White Pine Senior Center remodel and new delivery vehicles, and the Ely Fire Department among many other great community projects.
